Detailing Windows and Doors

The Mikey Block method for building ICF walls dictates that window and door openings be made in one foot increments. This way, all block cuts can be made in incremental foot pieces, so when you cut a block, both pieces can be used in the wall. Hence, there is no waste. It may seem that incremental foot openings will limit the options for window and door sizes, but our unique method of detailing doors and windows handles this issue quite well. We offer foam bucks in 2", 3", 4", 5", 6", 8", 10" & 11" widths.

They are pre-notched for 2.5" track in the middle and on both sides, if additional reinforcement is desired. All can be used in any combination to buck openings down to any desired size. Another really nice feature is that the bucks insulate and remain in place after grouting, so there is no waste.
